Latex Care

Latex Garment Care & Usage Guidelines

To ensure your latex garments last long and maintain their appearance, please follow these guidelines carefully.

1. Storage

  • Store latex in a cool, dry, and dark place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Avoid contact with metals (especially copper, brass, and bronze) — they cause permanent staining.
  • Keep garments away from oils, solvents, and PVC/plastic materials which may degrade latex.
  • Store hanging on a non-metallic hanger or loosely folded with talcum powder or silicone-based dressing aid to prevent sticking.
  • Do not store light-colored latex touching dark-colored latex — pigment transfer may occur.

2. Cleaning

  • After each use, hand wash latex in lukewarm water using a special latex detergent such as beGLOSS Special Wash Latex, Vivishine VIVICLEAN or other latex-safe cleaners.
  • Do not use regular soaps, shampoos, or detergents — they can damage latex and leave residues.
  • Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove all soap traces.
  • Gently shake off excess water and air dry naturally, away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
  • Once fully dry, lightly dust the inside with unscented talcum powder or apply a thin coat of silicone-based conditioner before storing.
  • Never machine wash, tumble dry, iron, or dry clean latex.

3. Dressing (Putting On)

  • Latex should always be worn with a silicone-based lubricant or dressing aid to avoid tearing and to make dressing easier.
  • Apply silicone inside the garment or directly onto the skin.
  • Never force latex over dry skin — this increases friction and risk of damage.
  • Avoid sharp objects (long nails, rings, watches) when dressing.
  • Put the garment on slowly and evenly, without overstretching.

4. Wearing

  • Latex must be shined and conditioned with silicone before and during wear to protect the surface and enhance appearance.
  • Avoid sunlight, heat, and open flames — latex is sensitive to UV and high temperatures.
  • Do not apply perfumes, oils, or lotions underneath or over latex garments.
  • Latex is non-breathable — avoid prolonged wear without breaks, especially in hot or active conditions.
  • Remove carefully, supporting seams and edges to prevent tearing.
